About the Digital Bridges Collection
There are thirty books in the Digital Bridges Collection, published
from 1811 to 1899. All the books are in English. A short description of each book,
a glossary of terms, personal names, and bridge names are included in the Collection.
Also included is an option supporting word searches of the collection's 3231 pages.

Using the Digital Bridges Glossary
The glossary tab has three sections: technical
terms, names
of authors and bridge builders, and names
of bridges. Use the glossaries for reference.
Currently there is no hyperlink between the glossaries and the
book collection titles.
How to use the Digital Bridges Collection:
You can browse individual books by chapters and pages by
clicking on the Browse Collections
tab. The Book Collection Titles are displayed alphabetically.
Reading the books online:
From the Book Collection Titles, click on a title to see the book description
page. Bibliographic information about the book and a thumbnail detail
of an illustration from the book is displayed.
To see the book contents arranged by sections of the book, click on
the book icon
or the
title of the book or the BROWSE BOOK tab.
Expand the sections so that all "titles" for individual pages are displayed
by clicking on "show all pages,"
or expand sections individually to reach individual pages by clicking on
the icons presented on the left.
Click on the "page icon"
for that individual page to view a page. Turn the pages of the book
by using the previous page or next page links on the far right side of
the screen.
To return to the book contents page, click on "Browse book contents,"
also on th e far right side of the screen.
To return to the book description page, click on the "return to book
description page" icon.
To return to the Book Collection Titles from with a book, choose "back
to list of books" at right above title.
Displaying and/or capturing individual pages for printing while in
the individual page view:
To enlarge the page for normal reading, click on "larger version" link
on the right side of the screen
To format the page for PDF, click on the "PDF for printing" link on
the right side of the screen.
Creating an archival quality copy:
To create an "archive quality 600dpi TIFF" copy click on the last link
on the right side of the screen.
Searching the full-text of the books online:
You can search for particular words that appear in the
text from the
Search Collection tab. This feature is under development.
